If you’ve always wanted to start a band but didn’t know how, then this is your chance! Rock along with the BEST - as our professional rockers form bands from group classes. Class is open to guitarists (lead and bass-electric only), drummers, keyboardists (provided), string and horn players. Students need to bring their own instruments and ALL students will need to practice between sessions. The culmination of this six-session class will be a Rock Concert! There may be a possibility of supervised, non-instructor practice sessions in the mornings at Sauk Rapids-Rice HS. Please bring a spiral bound notebook and a pencil—and be ready to ROCK!!
Sessions take place at Sauk Rapids Rice High School. Rock concert on August 14th at 7:00 p.m. at Sauk Rapids-Rice Community Arts Center.

Nighttime Music for Little Ones

Strawberry Shortcake Party Fun

Join Strawberry Shortcake for a special hour of singing, playing instruments, dancing, and creating a musical instrument. Take your photo with Strawberry Shortcake,
too! It’s going to be “berry” fun!!!

Rockin’ Rainforest

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. 5 - 9 year olds
Have you ever wanted to visit a rainforest? Through music and movement, our classroom will be transformed into a magical rainforest. Students will learn songs about the rain forest, play instruments, create dances,and make simple props for our “Rockin’ Rainforest” informance, a performance to share ideas about the rain forest.
* Students will need to bring a plain white T-shirt for their costume.

Music and Movement for Little Ones

Creative Movement and Choreography

5:00 - 6:00 p.m. 5 - 10 year olds
Have you ever wondered how a dance is created? Students explore creative ideas from books, artwork, and poetry, incorporating them into dances. They will be introduced to basic concepts of choreography, creating dances of different styles.

Beginning Ballet

Learn the basics of ballet vocabulary, posture and musicality, and utilize this in ballet combinations and dances.

No experience necessary for this class. Come learn the basics of ballet!

5:45 - 7:45 p.m.
Previous experience necessary for this class. The first 90 minutes is devoted to technique work. An optional 30 minute pointe class follows.

10:00 to 11:30 a.m. 7 - 12 year olds
Students will study one composer each day using biographies, maps, dramas, costumes, listening, movies, and games. The camp will include an opportunity for students to try to write music using the composer’s work as a guide. Students will work individually and in groups as they explore the eras of Domenico Scarlatti, John Williams, Clara Schumann and Bela Bartok.
