Private and Group Instruction:

We offer quality music instruction by our highly trained faculty for both private and group learning opportunities. Our piano training may include Dr. Paul Wirth's wonderful gravity -based piano technique. As Artistic Director, he hires and trains our teachers in his unique piano technique training designed to eliminate muscle fatigue and facilitate playing.

We offer private instruction for the following:

Piano - Violin - Viola - Voice - Guitar - Percussion - Composition - Music Theory

Group instruction is available for piano, orchestra and with special arrangements.

Early Childhood Instruction - Children's Creative Arts Connection

Description

Kathleen “Kathy” Kampa has been teaching young learners for over 25 years. She joined the Central Minnesota Music School teaching staff in the fall of 2006 and serves as the Director of the Early Childhood Music and Dance Programs. Kathleen brings an eclectic approach to both her music and dance instruction. Her musical approach centers on Orff Schulwerk, allowing a child’s creative ideas to be developed through music. As a pianist, guitarist, and vocalist, incorporating music and dance of cultures from around the world has been one of her goals.

Description

From Early Childhood Music and Movement class to adult classical ballet training, we offer a wide range of dance instruction to suit all age ranges. Julia Tehven-Sutton, an accomplished ballerina and instructor, teaches classical ballet for students ages eight to adult. Introducing young learners to a wide array of dance styles, Kathleen Kampa encourages children to move their bodies to the music.

Description

In the fall of 2007, the Central Minnesota Music School entered into a partnership with District 742 Community Education to offer music instruction at Clearview Elementary School. This after-school program, called Cougar Connections, brings guitar instruction closer to home for many families in the Clear Lake/Clearwater area and is open to students in surrounding communities as well. Instructor Kristi Padron has been playing the guitar for 18 plus years. She has written her own music almost from the beginning. One of her first performances of her songs was as a sixth grader at Clearview Elementary School.

Description:    

Salon se Lève …“Renewing the salon concert to encourage emerging young artists”
Since 1999 this monthly performance series presents, supports and encourages Minnesota's most gifted emerging young artists, utilizing the 19th century ambiance of a salon concert. These recitals are presented by the Central Minnesota Music School , in partnership with Salon se Lève's Volunteer Council/Contributing Membership and the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Downtown, Minneapolis .

Description

The Young Artist Piano Camp is held on the campus of the University of Minnesota , Duluth on the shores of beautiful Lake Superior .    This 11 day residential summer camp is open to young pianists between the ages of 10 and 18 years old and offers an inspirational experience of extraordinary opportunities that encourage musical growth through private lessons, masterclasses, forums, discussions, musicianship classes, recitals/ concerts, and interactions with other students and teachers.  In 2007, the camp partnered with the Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts Festival (SAF) to offer more exciting events and competitions for our young artists.

Description:    

The School of Rock is a summer camp held in cooperation with District 47 and 742 Community Education at the Sauk Rapids High School in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota .  The camp completed its third successful run in August 2007 with 59 participants from 15 central Minnesota cities.  Open to youth from grades 6 - 12, it offers instruction in various rock band instruments plus the management and formation of a rock band .
